But that may be because I also have a 70-200 f2.8 IS, and find that having IS and zoom for framing beat the higher speed of the 85mm. However, you might consider getting the 85mm and a set of extension tubes - not quite as good for macro as the 100mm (due to the light loss of using tubes), but it would cover both areas for less than the cost of the 100mm macro. You may also consider the Sigma 50mm macro, which is sharp and much cheaper than the 100mm Canon and may let you buy a macro lens and the 85mm.
