Day 182: In Brightest Day

A movie poster for "Green Lantern" outside the Malco Cordova

We went and saw new movies two days in a row. I don’t think we’ve done that in over ten years. Transformers: DOTM was the better flick, but I actually enjoyed Green Lantern, too. I know it got lousy reviews, but it entertained me, and that’s all that matters to me.

Oh, and now A-Train wants his own power ring. Yeah, like I didn’t see that one coming.

Day 181: Railroad Crossing

A railroad crossing sign at the historic Cordova train depot

I pass the “historic” Cordova train depot every weekday on my way to work. I’ve always wanted to stop and take a few photos of it. After catching a movie today, I finally had a chance. To my dismay, there were “For Sale” signs all over the place which prevented me from getting a decent shot of the depot. All I could salvage was this one of the railroad crossing sign.

I may have to make another trip and do some strategic realignment of some items. No one would mind if I put them back after I was done, right?

Day 179: Drink Veep

A sign for a soda called Veep I saw at Off The Hoof Burgers in Arlington, TN

Our favorite burger joint lately has been a place called Off The Hoof Burgers, in Arlington, TN. I decided to snag a shot of this sign hanging inside the joint the last time we were there. I’ve never actually seen a can of Veep before, but apparently it existed at some point.

Day 61: Abuelo’s Mexican Food Embassy

The front of Abuelo's, a Mexican restaurant

Continuing with the precedent set this year, here is a shot of the restaurant we ate at tonight. We’d only eaten here once, a few years ago, and I had forgotten how much we enjoyed the food. They had a new starter this time, cheese fritters, that were the hit of the evening. We will definitely not wait as long for a return to Abuelo’s.

Day 53: Chili’s

The Chili's sign in Cordova, TN

In addition to being a learning experience, my 365 Project is also serving as a photographic journal of the year. I’ve realized that not every one of these is going to be as awesome as I’d like; some are just going to be a slice of my day. It was a kids-eat-free night at Chili’s, so this is what I shot today.

Day 47: Rio Azul

Rio Azul Mexican Restaurant

We had dinner tonight at one of our favorite Cordova joints, Rio Azul. The Mexican food is great, and the staff is wonderful. Splurge for the queso, it’s fantastic!

Day 13

I had a busy afternoon, so I snagged today’s shot while we were grabbing dinner. Three guesses about what we had, and the first two don’t count.
