Day 112: LEGO Finger Phone
So, I’m standing in the entryway tonight, camera in hand, telling my wife I have no idea what I want to shoot. My son shouts down from the top of the stairs, “You can take a picture of my finger phone, Dad!”
True story.

- Focal length: 71 mm
- ISO: 1600

Day 109: First Softbox Shoot
I finally got around to using the Lumiquest Softbox III that came last week. My son was more than happy to sit in as my model, as this photo clearly shows. He has quite a personality.

- Focal length: 70 mm
- ISO: 400

Day 107: Return of the Monkey

No chance to play with the flash tonight, so I grabbed this photo while we were running errands. I like to think he’s stuck in there, and I’m not letting him out.
- Aperture: f/4
- Camera: Canon EOS 60D
- Focal length: 75 mm
- ISO: 800
- Shutter speed: 1/160 s
Day 95: Pirate Stare
I went with a single Speedlite here, with no modifiers. Thought I might pull off a dramatic effect.
- Aperture: f/5.6
- Camera: Canon EOS 60D
- Focal length: 75 mm
- ISO: 400
- Shutter speed: 1/250 s
Day 94: Peace, Dude
I’m going to attempt to take a different portrait every night this week, using some of the things I picked up from Hobby and McNally. This one was shot with my Speedlite through a reflector, with my popup adding some fill. A fairly safe shot, but a guy has to start somewhere, right?
Oh, and anyone in the Memphis area that would be interested in doing some modeling to help out a photographer, please contact me or leave a comment.

Day 83: Lost Tooth

I had planned to post a shot from my oldest son’s first soccer practice of the Spring season, but A-Train decided to upstage his brother. Just as we got to the soccer fields, he mentioned he had some blood in his mouth, and a few moments later he lost his first tooth right there in the parking lot.
Now, I just need to figure out how to setup a stealth shot to catch the Tooth Fairy tonight.
Day 76: St. Patrick’s Day

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Doesn’t my daughter look like the vision of Spring in that dress?
I had a hard time selecting today’s photo, so I’ve included all of the contender’s below.
Day 62: Light Sword Attitude
Tonight, I played around with a technique I’ve never tried before, called second-curtain sync. Most of the shots were complete flops, but I’m pretty pleased with this one. My son had a little bit of attitude leak into this shot, and he also managed to carve out the first initial of his name. I think I’ll have to attempt this again, correct my mistakes, and see if I can get him one worthy of a frame for his room.
Day 57: Young Mr. Hyde
My seven-year-old unleashed his inner Mr. Hyde, tonight. I’m pretty sure it was inevitable.
Day 46: Do the Congo
The Macon-Hall Chorus performed tonight. I just couldn’t pass up a chance to post a photo of my kid doing the Congo.
Oh, and you can tell he knows where the camera is, can’t you?
Day 33
Aidan had a free gymnastics class, and he seemed to really enjoy it. I, on the other hand, now have to decide if the Canon 85mm f/1.8 needs to move ahead of the Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro on my lens wish list, Sigh.
